Jewels of Morocco Tour

Description :

We offer the opportunity to combine between the Imperial city Marrakech and the Southern part of Morocco. Marrakech, the so-called Red City, is actually many shades of dusty terracotta, a complex crossroads of a place within reach of cool high Atlas valleys and the unique Berber villages where the best of the country lies. It is the enormous Sahara desert in the Southern part of Morocco. This vast landscape is filled with natural treasures, and it has sparked my interest for some time. There are very few places on Earth that compare to the incredible landscape of the Sahara Desert. A desert adventure is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on it either.

Highlights :

  • Explore the imperial city of Marrakech and wander through its old Medina
  • Experience the Berber culture through the High Atlas Mountains.
  • Journey through the Sahara Desert to witness exceptional sand dunes.
  • Enjoy a celestial overnight in the Sahara Desert either in the tent or under the starlit.
  • Try the camel ride and enjoy a picturesque Sunset and Sunrise.
  • Venture between the high rolling cliffs of the Todra and Dades Gorges.
  • Explore the fortified villages & Kasbahs.
  • Stroll through the narrow maze-like streets of Marrakesh.

Jewels of Morocco - 10 Days - 09 Nights – From Marrakech

Day 1: Arrive to Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at the airport, you will meet our local English speaking driver who will provide a brief review of your luxury tour. A Welcome Reception and Dinner celebrates your arrival in Marrakech. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Marrakech Sightseeing

After breakfast, you will discover Marrakech with a knowledgeable tour guide. Your tour usually starts at the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque. This mosque's beautiful minaret dominates the skyline of Marrakech and can be seen from almost every approach to the city thanks to a long-standing planning ordinance that forbids any other building in the old city to rise above the height of a palm tree. You will also visit the El-Bahia Palace. This 19th century palace is elaborate in its decoration and was built over a period of seven years for Ba Ahmed, the son of the Grand Vizier Si Moussa. One of most visited sites in Morocco is the Saadian Tombs, which were opened to the public and can now be accessed via a narrow passage that leads to an enclosed garden watched over by two mausoleums that include more than one hundred mosaic-decorated tombs. The Koranic School Medersa Ben Youssef is a Theological college founded by the Merenid Sultan Abu Hassan in the 14th century. It was restored in 1564 by the Saadians who made it the largest theological college in the Maghreb. The Djemaa el-Fna, the enormous square and atmospheric wonderland of torch-lit food stalls, snake charmers, storytellers and acrobats. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Marrakech - Atlas Mountains

Today you will have a day trip as a break to the Atlas Mountains with beautiful landscapes, snowy summits sometimes, and attractive Mountains stream. Pass through the Berber village of Asni situated on the edge of the National Park of Toubkal. After Ansi you will reach the village of Imlil. While arriving to this village you have the possibility to have a local Mountain guide to take you on a half an hour through impressive landscapes, valleys, nature, and villages where it is the best opportunity to take photos that would stay on your Atlas Mountains trip memories. Back to a beautiful Kasbah resort for the overnight with dinner.

Day 4: Atlas Mountains

Today is an opportunity to experience the everyday life of these Mountain people with picturesque villages and hamlets, forests, citrus trees (orange, lime, lemon and grapefruit), and rose gardens. The terrain affords gentle walking opportunities. You will visit a local resident who will prepare a home-cooked meal for your enjoyment, with a special "table-setting" atop their roof. You will see picturesque villages set amongst a variety of olive groves, and citrus trees for an opportunity to admire the red clay structures built according traditional Berber construction techniques. Back to the hotel late afternoon for the overnight with dinner.

Day 5: Atlas Mountains - Ouarzazate

After breakfast, you will take a scenic road through the surprisingly fertile valleys and Berber villages of the High Atlas Mountains providing the stark contrast of lush green barley in the irrigated valleys at the foot of the barren rock strata above. Continue to elaborate Aït Benhaddou, site of the region’s most exotic kasbahs, where structures all but defy the laws of gravity as they perch upon the steep slope. (Some of these buildings have been featured in films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.) After lunch, we reach Ouarzazate originally built as a French garrison in the 1920s. Check in to your luxury hotel with dinner.

Day 6: Ouarzazate - Erfoud

Today we start a fresh day to see the main sites in Ouarzazate including the Old Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas cinema Studio. Then depart to Skoura, a small city nestled on a palm grove near Ouarzazate and once was a stopping point for African traders en route to Morocco. A highlight of today’s journey is following the Road of thousand Kasbahs, which links the high peaks of the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert with a stop at the Rose valley and Dades valley before we reach the striking Todra Gorges and the picturesque oases hidden within. The ruggedness fades as you descend and head through the Ziz Valley. Layers of color mark the cliffs that border a dense canopy of palm trees. The greenery disappears and is replaced by the rosy and golden sand dunes of the Sahara Desert at Erfoud. Overnight with dinner in a luxury Kasbah Hotel.

Day 7: Erfoud - Merzouga Desert

After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your English speaking driver to start an adventurous day across the barren land to the majestic Sahara sand dunes. We continue the spirit of the nomadic Berber lifestyle. There you will enjoy the sunset and the silence of the Sahara desert. The desert spreads with intensity beyond the horizon. The scent of soft, hot earth surrounds the town. Even the edge of the desert is breathtaking in its scope and surprising beauty. There you will enjoy the sunset and the silence of the Sahara desert. After dinner we gather round the fire and enjoy the desert night with traditional Berber drums. You will then spend the night in deluxe Berber tents with private bathrooms and hot showers.

Day 8: Merzouga Desert – Draa Valley - Zagora

After enjoying a picturesque sunrise upon the stunning dunes, you will have breakfast in the camp. Then, you will ride camels back to the meeting point with your driver. You will start your day with an interesting visit to the fossils workshops followed by a stop in Rissani village. The tour continues south to reach the beautiful Draa valley with its vast palms and old villages. You will have a stop for lunch in Alnif. Then, continue our journey towards Zagora, current administrative center of the area and from where once the trading caravans travelled to Timbuktu on a long trip that lasted 52 days Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Zagora.

Day 9: Zagora - Marrakech

Today, you leave Zagora towards Marrakech with a scenic drive through the Draa valley and authentic villages to discover the sites of the South region. We continue to Ouarzazate where you will have lunch. In the afternoon, we drive back to Marrakech via the high Atlas Mountains with an optional visit to the former Pacha Telouat Kasbah.
